Demos from Esperance and The Ngaanyatjarra Lands Launched
West Australian Music (WAM) is excited to announce the release of its fifteenth regional recording compilation – Demos from the Ngaanyatjarra Lands and Esperance. The 23-track double album is the first of its kind in WAM’s acclaimed regional recording series, showcasing the stunning juxtaposition of stories, song and landscapes between two music communities on either sides of WA’s expansive Goldfields-Esperance region.
WAM’s pop-up studio spent nine days recording artists in the remote Mirlirrtjarra Community (Warburton) – a place of endless desert horizons located on the Ngaanyatjarra Lands near the tri-state border. Following a multi-day, 1,200km drive, WAM set-up shop in the turquoise-ocean tourist town of Esperance on the state’s southern coastline. Massive Thank You to Nige Bird for being the key driver behind the project.
