WA's Finest - Series Announcement!!!

WA’S Finest

Series Announcement

WAM is WA’S peak industry body responsible for supporting and nurturing all forms of contemporary music in WA. Each year they run the WAMAwards which recognises achievement across multiple categories. 2018 saw Esperance locals Grand Casual nominated as best regional act. Grand Casual stood alongside four brilliant artists comprising of Tracey Barnett, Blue Child Collective, Kris Nelson and Tanya Ransom all of which Kyza Presents had worked with or encountered over the past five years. I couldn’t help but imagine how fantastic an event would look with all regional nominees on one line up. Following the WAMAwards Ceremony in early November 2018 (Congratulations to Tracey Barnett for taking out the category) the idea was reignited and I began to consider how an event could become a reality.

WAMAward Winner Tracey Barnett

On touching base with the above artists, we realised quite quickly that getting everyone to Esperance for one weekend would be difficult, coinciding touring schedules was a tricky beast. The idea evolved with the new goal being to have each act perform in Esperance over a series of linked events, accompanied by local Esperance acts, with workshops offered by the touring musicians aimed at local professional development. Associated financial costs had the potential to limit the plausibility of such a series, we set ourselves the task of finding local sponsors to help in this area.

Absolutely stoked to announce that this vision has become a reality with the series WA’S Finest set to kick off on Saturday February 9th 2019 The series is brought to you through collaboration between Kyza Presents and The Cannery Arts Centre Esperance with three fantastic local sponsors providing key funds to help the project become a reality, thank you to Dudley Newton Optometrists, Elders Insurance and Roger Ellett at Elpha.
