Evt Mgt with Phaedra Watts

Nannup Music Festival Director Phaedra Watts joins us for Balmy Nights in 2023 and is set to run a strategic event management workshop following up from her initial professional development workshop in 2021.

Phaedra will offer constructive criticism and consider strategies that can be implemented to allow for a natural organic evolution of Balmy Nights.

This workshop will be free to attend and open to the public. A fantastic initiative made possible by the Mt Burdett Foundation.

2023 WAM Regional Song of the Year Winners Sunny Day are in town for Balmy Nights, and we are wrapped to have them deliver a free song writing workshop Sunday Nov 26th from 12.30pm at The Cannery Arts Centre.

Songwriting with Alexia Parenzee

Join Alexia Parenzee for a standout songwriting workshop at The Cannery Arts Centre. Alexia performs a hybrid blend of soul-roots music, which combines lush vocals and finger-picking grooves. A natural songstress, she is recognised for her unique tone and authentic vibe, exploring music through her connection to stories of self-exploration, identity, intrepid travels and people and places.

Currently building on the success of her debut single ‘Creed and Colour’ released last year, she’s making a splash around the country, as well as receiving international airplay.

This lady knows how to write a quality track, head along to gain insights from on of regional WA's finest.

BEATS AND BARS WITH SLAZY AND JIMMY JAMES

Join Esperance Hip Hop artists Slazy and Jimmy James as they demonstrate their writing process. From writing Hip Hop lyrics and developing flow, to the art of beat making and the software behind the craft.

Event Logistics Free Workshop with Hayley Ayres

Hayley Ayers launched 360 Artist Logistics alongside Leon Kneebone in 2014. Since launch Hayley has honed her skills as a booker and event manager to plan and execute numerous events and tours operating domestically and internationally. 360 Artist Logistics offers a number of services including event management, production management, entertainment programming, publicity and communications. Skills put to the test working on events including Origin Fields, A Day On The Green and 2023 Perth edition of Laneway Festival.

Hayley joins us for Balmy Nights in 2022 and is set to run a strategic event management workshop focussed upon the event, offering constructive criticism and consideration of strategies that can be implemented to allow for further organic growth of Balmy Nights Festival.

Pre Production with Robin Bottrell

Join Robin Bottrell, frontman for The Washing Line Economy as he discusses the ins and outs of preparing for the recording studio. WLE are known for their intricate arrangements and intriguing sound effects. Gain insight into how Robin and the band have developed their sound and the preparation required before hitting the studio to capture their sonic vision.

Angie Colman is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from the Perth hills. With soaring vocals and powerful, heartfelt melodies, Angie has captured the hearts of the Perth music community. Lyrically, Angie is relatable, witty and honest, and with the backing of bassist Kieran Barnes, drummer Miles Gilbert, and guitarist Sarah Curran, Angie's songs have been brought to life on some of Perth's most loved stages.

Songwriting with Finn Pearson

Cannery Arts Centre, 1018 Norseman Road, Esperance

Finn Pearson is a singer-songwriter based out of Fremantle, who's songwriting roots draw deeply upon traditional folk. Wide ranging experience has seen him perform with a number of Perth Acts including Siobhan Cotchin, Ezra Tide and Clay Western.

2019 saw the formation of the Finn Pearson Band drawing influence from acts such as Paul Kelly and Bruce Springsteen.

WAPA trained, down to earth and sporting experience across multiple musical genres, this shall be a cracker of a workshop.

Life Drawing

Come along to an intimate evening with artist Sarsby Martin to explore drawing of the naked human form accompanied by acoustic guitar from Kyza Smithson. Drawing as an exercise is one of the best methods of advancing a drawer's skill. Besides being a core exercise in an artist's practice, it is also extremely relaxing.

We hope we can share with you some mindfulness and an art piece to add to your wall or portfolio. All materials are provided. BYO nibbles and beverages. ADULTS ONLY

Writing The Blues with Dan Howls

Songwriting with Grace Barbe (Free Workshop)

Absolutely wrapped to have Grace Barbe deliver a free songwriting Workshop at The Cannery Arts Centre while in town for Balmy Nights.

Brought to you by WAM, Act Belong Commit and The Mt Burdett Foundation, Shire of Esperance and Regional Arts WA.

Grace has released three studio albums and is the recipient of three WAM Song of the Year awards. Barbé's third album Fanm: Woman was nominated for Best World Album at the 2020 ARIA Music Awards. Barbé sings in Creole, English, French and Malagasy and her music fuses the tropical rhythms and dances of the slaves with psychedelic rock, afrobeat, reggae and pop.
